STATEMENT OF GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
(FY 2009)
GOAL 1: To ensure that individuals with disabilities in institutional and/or community settings
(1) are not subject to abuse/neglect,
(2) are free from discrimination,
(3) are provided with an appropriate education,
(4) are provided appropriate health care services, and
(5) are provided with opportunities to make informed decisions about their lives as independent, contributing members of the community.
Objective 1.1: In fiscal year 2009, P&A personnel will provide direct representation for eligible persons with disabilities by conducting intervention strategies of reported cases of abuse and/or neglect to include, but not be limited to, short-term assistance, investigations, technical assistance, administrative remedies, negotiation /mediation, and/or legal remedies;
Objective 1.2: In fiscal year 2009, P&A personnel will conduct and/or facilitate trainings relating to the needs and rights of individuals with disabilities, to people with disabilities, their families and/or other members of the community;
Objective 1.3: In fiscal year 2009, P&A personnel will disseminate information relating to the needs and rights of individuals with disabilities to the community at large via local media and/or other mediums for information dissemination;
Objective 1.4: In fiscal year 2009, P&A personnel will provide Information & Referral and/or Technical Assistance to interested individuals about issues relating to the needs and rights of individuals with disabilities in institutional and/or community settings;
Objective 1.5: In fiscal year 2009, P&A personnel will monitor the provision of services provided in institutional and/or community settings, to ensure persons with disabilities are not subject to abuse and/or neglect and to insure that their rights are duly protected; and
Objective 1.6: In fiscal year 2009, P&A personnel will receive training in current issues, practices and/or laws relating to people with disabilities, to ensure a more effective and efficient system of protection and advocacy services.
